Another JP Morgan Chase horror story

The last time we were in Ohio I told my SIL's mom about my issues with JP Morgan Chase and she told me her Chase horror story.

Long story short:
Her dad died. Left a lot of money, but had a small account with Chase bank. After the dust cleared, the guy from Chase that was handling her dad's account took the remaining balance and cut two checks - one for her and one for her brother. Checks were mailed.

She doesn't live in a town with a Chase bank, so when she was in the town where her dad lived she stopped into his branch to cash the check. They refused to cash it, all the way up to the manager. When she asked why they refused to tell her - and threatened to call the police if she didn't leave immediately.

She left. Her brother (who was with her) tried to deposit his check and his pay check into his bank account. Same thing.

They ended up at another branch, where the check was cashed and they apologized profusely for the actions of the other branch.

They never did find out why they refused to cash the check.

Oh, and both checks were for under $400.

I can not wait to get JP Morgan Chase out of my life.
